How I love Subarus! My recommendation has my daughter’s family, including my granddaughters, in a Forester. The STI is an all-time favorite and I’d get a CrossTrek in a heartbeat. The Ascent, I’m afraid, doesn’t quicken my heart like the finest Subarus out there…
The Subaru Ascent presents itself as a compelling option in the competitive midsize SUV market, boasting a blend of versatility, comfort, and safety features that cater to families and adventure-seekers alike.
One standout aspect of the Ascent is its spacious interior, accommodating up to eight passengers across three rows without sacrificing comfort. The materials used are of high quality, lending an upscale feel to the cabin. Furthermore, ample cargo space ensures that there’s room for luggage, groceries, or outdoor gear, making it suitable for both daily errands and weekend getaways.
The Ascent is the BIG Sabaru SUV. It’s a great looking vehicle that’s well-appointed on the inside but lacks some of the great driving characteristics of my favorite vehicles in their lineup. I find the Ascent to feel a bit underpowered in some situations, with its CVT transmission needing just a bit more oomph. The ride is comfortable but the body roll is a bit too much for me, even at slow speeds. On the highway, the Ascent seems busy and not planted in its lane. Some big SUVs work magic, making the vehicle seem smaller than it actually is. In my opinion, the Subaru Ascent seems bigger.
It’s hard to beat Subaru when it comes to being safe. Subaru’s commitment shines through in the Ascent, with a suite of advanced driver assistance features included as standard across all trim levels. These features, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, contribute to the vehicle’s excellent crash test ratings and provide peace of mind to occupants.
Overall, the Subaru Ascent presents a nice package for buyers in the market for a midsize SUV, offering a spacious and comfortable interior, acceptable performance, and a comprehensive set of safety features. While it may not excel in every aspect, its well-rounded nature makes it a worthy contender in its segment.
At Technogadgets, the cars are the stars and the Ascent gets 2.5 of them.
